Graphite is an industrial mineral. This means that it is:

It is a rock or mineral not produced as a source of metals. The chemical symbol for
graphite (carbon) is "C" indicating that it is composed solely of carbon. In the
commercial arena, the words carbon and graphite are often used interchangeably.
